Our client is a successful £12million turnover privately owned company which has seen significant growth over the last few years and is expected to continue this growth. An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Management Accountant to join them at their headquarters in County Durham.

Reporting to the Managing Director and operating as a key part of the management team, your role would be to take control of the company’s overall accounting function and be responsible for all financial aspects of the company strategy, including analysing figures and implementing recommendations based on these findings, to generate with the most profitable outcomes.

 A key appointment with a high level of visibility and responsibility, the successful incumbent will be expected to: -

  • Undertake the preparation and review of monthly management financial information and present to the board
  • Provide management with MI reports and operational KPIs as required, developing insightful ways to communicate financial information to ensure its impactful and engaging
  • Preparation of realistic and appropriate forecasts
  • Develop, implement and control internal finance procedures and efficiencies with various departments helping them to plan and manage their own budgets
  • Management of purchase ledger and sales ledger functions
  • Negotiation of supplier contracts, proactively looking for cost savings on an ongoing basis
  • Annual preparation of supporting information for the annual audit and liaising with the auditors ensuring the timely completion of the statutory financial statements
  • Calculation and submission of P11Ds, advising the directors the BIK/s.455 implications monthly where necessary
  • Calculation and submission of PAYE Settlement Agreement relating to sales incentives and gifts to employees
  • Oversee/review VAT return preparation and submission
  • Oversee/review EC Sales List preparation and submission
  • Ensure that the company’s financial system is robust, compliant and supports current activities and future growth plans
  • Lead and develop the finance team (team of 5)


An experienced and qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) accountant is required with the ability to communicate and influence at all levels, both verbally and in writing.  Strong IT skills and experience analysing and interpreting high volumes of data and making decisions based on this data is essential.
