Electrical Design Engineer

Contract Term: Permanent

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum


Our client is a leading global OEM manufacturer based in Tyne and Wear and they are now looking to appoint an Electrical Design Engineer to strengthen their Engineering team.  This is a unique opportunity to join this well-established business at an exciting time in their growth journey. Reporting into the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for the following: - 

  • Preparation of layout, assembly and detail drawings in 2D and 3D.

  • Preparation of electrical schematics and specifications.

  • Preparation of functional descriptions and translation in to working software.

  • Specification and procurement of third-party equipment and components.

  • Assembly of prototype mechanical systems.

  • Assembly of prototype electrical systems.

  • Testing & validations of equipment.

  • Recording of results and report writing.

  • Ensuring systems compliance with relevant standards.

  • Preparation of Designers Risk Assessments.

  • Support in the Preparation of manuals.

  • Assisting with manufacturing solutions within the business.

  • Offer a technical backup service to Sales, Projects, Design, Manufacturing and Service departments

  • Be prepared to support Projects with implementation of technology.


The successful applicant will:


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering or related field with a minimum of 3 years post graduate experience

  • Ideally have experience with 3D modelling using SolidWorks (highly desirable however not essential; PC literate at ease with MS Office products

  • Experienced in OEM or tier one component delivery

  • Have exceptional attention to detail, organised, self-disciplined and the ability to work autonomously

  • Be a completer finisher, a creative and innovative thinker with a broad understanding of engineering process and principles.
